Dr Farhat Hussain

NEONATAL & GENERAL PAEDIATRICIAN

Dr Farhat Hussain is a Neonatal and Perinatal medicine Specialist. He is also a qualified General Paediatrician. He completed his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine and General Paediatrics. He has been practicing Paediatrics in Australia for the last 23 years. Dr Hussain trained in Paediatrics at Mater Children’s Hospital Brisbane. He completed his Newborn Paediatrics Fellowship at Mater Mothers Hospital Brisbane and Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. He also completed his newborn emergency transport training at NETS Victoria.

Before moving to Western Australia, he was a consultant Neonatologist at Nepean Hospital in Western Sydney. Dr Hussain has been practicing as Neonatal Paediatrician at SJOG Subiaco for the last fourteen years and has recently commenced practice at SJOG Murdoch.

Neonatology:

  • Intensive care management of all aspects of sick newborns
  • Premature infants needing invasive and non-invasive respiratory support
  • Expert resuscitation of babies born in extremis
  • Diagnosis and management of babies born with genetic syndromes
  • Newborn examination and 6-week checks and all problems associated with newborns
  • Feeding difficulties
  • Failure to gain weight
  • Colic and reflux
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Plagiocephaly
  • Antenatal counselling for congenital anomalies
